This is a hard and heavy wood, with low strength and mechanical properties. Because of the alternative nature of the grain, it is difficult to obtain a good cutting finish, although it does work readily with hand and machine tools. It finishes well once filled.
Uses
Its main use is for decorative veneers. Also used by turners and carvers
